Prevent and Respond Efficiently; A Look at the Crisis Cell

A training session where the organization validates and improves the efficiency of its international crisis management procedures. Through an experiential learning approach, participants will be asked to play an active role in the resolution of events presented in a crisis scenario. This session allows the integration of the crisis cell’s best practices.

Length: 3.5 hours

Objectives:

  • Develop organizational capacity to intervene in a structured way through an effective crisis unit.

  • Ensure the implementation of the organization’s crisis management procedures.

  • Improve the professional practices of people involved in international crisis resolution.

 

Mental Health and Outbound Mobility 

Training that addresses the main manifestations of mental health disorders and introduces the different intervention techniques to use. This session, which is aimed at all individuals involved in the development and realization of an international activity, allows organizations to support vulnerable people and to be better equipped to intervene and ensure the successful course of the activity.  

Length: 3.5 hours

Objectives:

  • Learn the main manifestations of mental health challenges that can affect individuals.

  • Develop intervention techniques for people experiencing mental health issues.

  • Better manage situations related to mental health events in international activities.

 

Intervention with Stakeholders During a Crisis

A training during which participants acquire techniques, tools and skills to efficiently intervene with individuals involved in a crisis abroad. A staff member with the ability to interact with tact, calm and empathy, applying intervention techniques, collaborates in the effective management of the situation and contributes to the mitigation of impacts. Furthermore, an organization that places individuals at the heart of its priorities demonstrates organizational maturity contributing to its credibility and reputation. ​

Length: 6 hours

Objectives:

  • Become familiar with the concept of crisis.

  • Develop intervention skills.

  • Acquire an effective method of operation and appropriate social skills when receiving a call from a stakeholder.

  • Adopt the right methods to relay sensitive information.

  • Understand and apply the necessary mitigation measures in collaboration with the team (in prevention and postvention) during a crisis.

 

For group guides

 

Group Guides Safe Practices

​Training that allows group guides to develop best practices to promote safe accompaniment. Addressing due diligence, risk tolerance, roles and responsibilities as well as organizational communication procedures to follow, this session equips participants with the knowledge to contribute to the safety of all travellers under their care and to actively collaborate in the effective resolution of crises occurring abroad.

Length: 4 hours

Objectives:

  • Incorporate good risk management practices for group guides operating abroad.

  • Strengthen understanding of group guides’ roles and responsibilities.

  • Identify the preventive measures and crisis management procedures to be implemented within their project.

  • Understand and master communication processes which favor appropriate crisis resolution.

Training during which participants acquire techniques and tools to efficiently intervene with individuals involved in a crisis abroad. A group guide with the ability to interact with tact, calm and empathy, applying intervention techniques, collaborates in the effective management of the situation and contributes to the mitigation of its impacts. ​

Length: 6 hours

Objectives:

  • Become familiar with the concept of crisis.

For travellers

 

Prevention is
Everyone’s Business

A pre-departure training that informs and equips the participants on various questions relating to their personal health while staying abroad. In dealing with risk tolerance and due diligence, this session allows participants to understand their contribution to the safety of their stay abroad.  Using an experiential learning approach, travellers develop a better understanding of the preventive behaviours to be favored as well as the appropriate reactions to adopt in critical situations. Topics include, among others, personal safety at play, accommodation, work, travel, interpersonal relationships. This training is essential to effective risk management and the implementation of a safety culture.

Length: 3 hours

Objectives:

  • Allow travellers to understand their roles and responsibilities for a safe stay abroad.

  • Introduce the preventive behaviours to adopt in order to avoid risky situations.

  • Prepare travellers to respond when a risky situation or crisis occurs.

 

Being Healthy; an Essential Condition for my Successful Stay

A pre-departure training that informs and equips the participants on various questions relating to their personal health while staying abroad.  The training addresses, among others, the medical and sanitary conditions to which travellers may be exposed, the various health problems that may occur during their stay and the behaviours to adopt to promote good health.

Length: 2 hours

Objectives:

  • Learn the health risks when staying abroad.

  • Introduce healthy habits and behaviours that promote good health abroad.

  • Learn how to react in the event of a health problem upon destination.

 

Intercultural Communication

and Culture Shock

Pre-departure training that addresses the notion of culture and the construction of stereotypes conveyed within our societies. In this session, participants become aware of the different factors influencing intercultural relations. The scenarios and workshops allow participants to reflect and enable everyone to adopt new perspectives fostering a rewarding intercultural experience upon arrival at their destination.

Length: 3 hours

Objectives:

  • Identify elements influencing relationships with other cultures.

  • Improve one’s intercultural communication.

  • Understand culture shock and acquire management methods to better handle it.

 

International Sexual

Harassment Prevention

A pre-departure training which promotes an understanding of the various elements that constitute sexual harassment and allows for intercultural perspectives on this sensitive topic. By discussing issues of ambiguity and interpretation, this session enables participants to recognize harassment situations and provides tools to handle it with vigilance.

Length: 2 hours

Objectives:

  • Define sexual harassment.

  • Improve participants’ sensitivity to cultural differences related to intercultural relations.

  • Prevent sexual harassment.

 

Communication and Group Living

​A pre-departure training that fosters group cohesion and lays the foundation for a harmonious experience abroad. Through participatory workshops, participants define both their common goals and their code of conduct. This session helps strengthen the bonds between group members by introducing concepts of communication, emotional management, debriefing practices, etc.  

Length: 3 hours

Objectives:

  • Adopt personal behaviours conducive to group cohesion.

  • Consolidate the group’s performance.
